Launched in September 2015, OakNorth Bank was the first bank globally to leverage our Credit Science Platform, deploying it from day one.
Since then, it has grown into one of the most successful new banks, achieving performance metrics that rank it amongst the top 1% of banks globally – an ROE run-rate of 23%, an efficiency ratio run-rate of 26%, a borrower NPS of 80.5, and pre-tax profits that increased 95% in 2019 to £65.9m. In 2020, it was named by the Financial Times as the fastest-growing business in Europe (source: FT 1000).
Through leveraging our Platform, OakNorth Bank has managed to profitably lend several billion pounds to hundreds of British businesses who have in turn gone on to create almost 15,000 new affordable and social homes and 20,000 new jobs across the UK.
"We built OakNorth to empower growth businesses and in doing so, make the world a more interesting, dynamic and diverse place to live. In five years, we have been able to leverage OakNorth’s Credit Science Platform to build one of the most successful new banks globally, and in doing so, catalyse a multiplier effect that has had a significant impact on the UK economy.”
"OakNorth went above and beyond the call of duty, taking the time to develop a flexible and innovative funding structure.”
"On meeting OakNorth, we were left with a strong sense that they occupy a unique place in the market, clearly committed to helping entrepreneurial mid-sized businesses find appropriate solutions to fund growth – a clear synergy with our own aspirations. Decisions were made quickly and with pragmatism and transparency."
"It was a pleasure working with OakNorth– we’re no strangers to securing debt finance for large-scale projects, but this experience was one of the simplest and most stress-free transactions we’ve concluded."
"In some ways the process of securing funding was similar to that which is followed with traditional lenders, while in other ways it was refreshingly different, with the most notable elements being speed, transparency and a personalised service. OakNorth asked for detailed financial information, both historic and forward looking, and the lending decisions were committee based."
